Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mechanical HVAC Engineer in Paarl, Western Cape to design, specify and manage HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. You will perform load calculations, select equipment, and develop ductwork layouts using AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and at least four years’ HVAC design experience, with strong knowledge of energy efficiency, SANS/ASHRAE standards, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of HVAC system design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics in HVAC.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE and energy efficiency practices.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for various building types, including load calculations and layouts.
• Prepare detailed drawings and specifications using CAD software.
• Ensure designs meet codes, energy standards, and client requirements.
• Perform energy modeling to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Coordinate with architects and engineers for integrated building solutions.
• Oversee site visits, contractor coordination, and commissioning support.
• Stay updated on HVAC tech and regulatory changes.
