Placements24 is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer for a hybrid role in Upington, SA. The position covers planning, design, construction and maintenance of high-voltage lines, balancing fieldwork with office engineering tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years in HV line design, strong knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards, and proficiency with PLS-CADD/CAT. Join a key energy infrastructure project in the Northern Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum 7 years of design and engineering of high-voltage transmission lines.
• Proficiency with transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, CAT).
• Knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer high-voltage transmission lines, including tower spotting and sag/tension calculations.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Conduct site investigations, route selection, and feasibility studies for new projects.
• Oversee construction and commissioning, ensuring safety and design compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors and regulators throughout the lifecycle.
• Perform condition assessments and maintenance planning for existing assets.
