Placements24 is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to oversee health, safety, and environmental programs in Polokwane, Limpopo. The role blends hands-on site work with strategic planning, including audits, incident investigations and training delivery.

A leadership approach will drive a strong safety culture across the renewable energy operations. Ideal candidates hold a relevant degree and 7+ years in HSE management, with NEBOSH/CSP credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in HSE management, preferably within energy/renewables.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, standards and best practices.
• Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation and emergency planning.
• Leadership, communication and training delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the HSE management system.
• Ensure compliance with national and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and site inspections.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for all employees and contractors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding renewable energy company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Manager to oversee their operations in the Polokwane, Limpopo region. This hybrid role requires a proactive approach to developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, promoting a strong safety culture, and minimizing environmental impact. The position involves a blend of on-site inspections and strategic planning, with flexibility for remote work when appropriate. You will lead a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of HSE performance across all company activities. This is a key role in supporting the sustainable growth of the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's HSE management system.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable national and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Requirements

• Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
• Proficiency in HSE management software and tools.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP) are highly desirable.
