Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design process for new healthcare facilities and renovations.
• Develop conceptual designs, master plans, and detailed construction documents for healthcare projects.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare clients, medical staff, and stakeholders to understand operational needs.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant healthcare building codes, standards (e.g., FGI Guidelines, SANS), and regulations.
• Integrate medical equipment planning and technology infrastructure into architectural designs.
• Focus on infection control, patient safety, and operational efficiency in all designs.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines (MEP, structural) and specialist consultants.
• Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies for healthcare projects.
• Review construction submittals and respond to RFI's during the construction phase.
• Mentor junior architects and contribute to the firm's knowledge base in healthcare design.
• Stay current with advancements in healthcare architecture, technology, and best practices.
• Present design proposals and solutions to clients and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Professional Architect registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural practice, with at least 6 years specializing in healthcare facility design.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex healthcare projects.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and building codes.
• Experience with BIM software (Revit) and other architectural design tools.
• Strong understanding of healthcare operational workflows and equipment integration.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
