About the Role

Our client, a leading architectural firm with a strong specialization in healthcare facilities, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Healthcare Architect to join their established practice in Rustenburg, North West . This role is critical for leading the design and development of state-of-the-art hospitals, clinics, and medical centers across the region. You will be responsible for overseeing complex healthcare projects from inception through to completion, ensuring that designs meet the unique functional, clinical, and regulatory demands of healthcare environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of healthcare planning principles, medical equipment integration, infection control, and relevant building codes specific to healthcare. This is an on-site position, offering the chance to contribute significantly to the improvement of healthcare infrastructure in the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design process for healthcare projects, including conceptualization, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant healthcare regulations, standards (e.g., SANS 10400, facility guidelines), and best practices for infection control and patient safety.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare clients, medical professionals, engineers, and other consultants to define project requirements and objectives.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Develop detailed space plans, functional layouts, and technical drawings tailored to specific healthcare needs.
• Coordinate the integration of medical equipment and technology systems within the architectural design.
• Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and post-occupancy evaluations for healthcare facilities.
• Mentor and guide junior architects and design team members.
• Prepare and present design proposals and project updates to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Professional registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) as a Professional Architect.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-registration experience, with a significant focus on healthcare architecture.
• Demonstrated experience leading healthcare projects from concept to completion.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare design principles, clinical workflows, and regulatory requirements for medical facilities in South Africa .
• Proficiency in architectural design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant project management tools.
• Strong understanding of building systems integration in healthcare settings (e.g., HVAC, medical gases, power).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Residency in or willingness to relocate to Rustenburg, North West .
