Job summary

Placements24 leads a major energy infrastructure client in Gauteng seeking a Lead Grid Integration Specialist to anchor operations in Tembisa. The role requires developing strategies for stable integration of renewable energy and storage, improving grid reliability and resilience.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in power systems, strong expertise in grid codes, protection coordination, and hands-on experience with PSS/E, ETAP or DIgSILENT.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems focus.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in power system engineering with grid integration.
• Strong knowledge of power flow, transient stability, short-circuit analysis and protection coordination.
• Exposure to grid codes and regulatory frameworks for energy integration; software tools listed above.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee grid integration strategies for renewables and energy storage.
• Analyze grid performance, identify bottlenecks, propose stability improvements.
• Lead studies on grid capacity, fault analysis, and harmonic distortion.
• Collaborate with grid operators, developers, and regulators for compliant integration.
• Design and specify protection schemes and control systems for grid assets.
• Manage interconnection studies and agreements; mentor engineering teams.
• Stay informed on grid modernization and DER trends.
• Produce detailed technical reports and operational guidelines.
• Lead projects from conception through commissioning.
