Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to spearhead grid integration projects in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will design, implement and manage electrical infrastructure for renewable energy installations and ensure seamless connection to the national grid.

You will lead and mentor a team of engineers, perform advanced power system studies, and ensure compliance with grid codes. A strong background in HV equipment, power electronics and stakeholder management is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in power systems and grid integration.
• Deep knowledge of high-voltage equipment, power electronics and grid interconnection standards.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD).
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage complex projects; strong SA grid regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems for grid-connected power facilities.
• Develop detailed single-line diagrams, protection schemes and substation layouts.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit and stability studies using advanced software.
• Ensure compliance with SA and international grid codes and standards.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and testing of transformers, switchgear and protection relays.
• Collaborate with utility companies and regulators to secure grid connection approvals.
• Manage project schedules, budgets and resources for electrical tasks.
• Mentor and supervise a team of engineers and technicians.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for electrical systems.
• Contribute to long-term grid integration strategies and technology roadmaps.
