Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical or Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical underground mining experience.
• Proficiency with FLAC or Rocscience software.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics and failure mechanisms.
• Knowledge of SA mining legislation and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations including core logging and lab result analysis.
• Perform stability analyses for underground openings such as drifts, shafts, and stopes.
• Design and specify ground support systems (rock bolts, mesh, shotcrete).
• Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs using instrumentation.
• Assess and manage seismic hazards and their impact on underground stability.
• Provide geotechnical input for mine planning and scheduling.
• Review and approve geotechnical designs and reports.
• Troubleshoot geotechnical issues during mining operations.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and mine safety regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to management.
