Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead investigations and designs for mining and infrastructure projects in the Northern Cape. The role demands deep expertise in ground conditions, foundations, slopes, and earth structures, ensuring stability and safety on major developments.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate complex site programs, and deliver detailed reports and risk assessments. A Pr.Eng.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related Civil Engineering discipline.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.
• 10+ years of post-graduate geotechnical experience with project leadership.
• Proven experience in complex geotechnical investigations and designs in diverse settings (Northern Cape preferred).
• Proficiency in advanced geotechnical modeling software (Plaxis 3D, FLAC).
• Strong project management, report writing and client liaison skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical site investigations: planning, execution and interpretation of results.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice and design for foundations, retaining structures and earthworks.
• Conduct slope stability analyses and mitigation planning for challenging terrains.
• Oversee construction quality control for earthworks and foundations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design docs and risk assessments.
