You will conduct site investigations, analyze data, prepare detailed reports, liaise with clients and design teams, and contribute to resilient regional infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Plaxis and GeoStudio.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics and hydrogeology.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise subsurface investigations.
• Analyze soil/rock properties for design parameters.
• Provide foundation design, slope stability and earth retention recommendations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their consulting team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is essential for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, soil mechanics, and slope stability for a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects. You will conduct site investigations, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports and recommendations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of soil behavior, and the ability to apply geotechnical principles to solve complex engineering challenges in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties to determine engineering characteristics.
• Provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including findings and design parameters.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards and construction best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
