Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Professional registration as a Pr Eng with ECSA preferred.
• 7+ years hands-on geotechnical experience, mining exposure.
• Expertise in soil/rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software for analysis and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations, site characterization, soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock data to assess bearing capacity, slope stability, and settlements.
• Develop detailed geotechnical reports with foundation/excavation recommendations.
• Design and supervise geotechnical structures (retaining walls, deep foundations, tailings dams).
• Provide input for mine design, open-pit stability, and underground excavations.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and construction teams to implement solutions.
• Ensure compliance with SA mining regulations and SANS codes.
• Perform peer reviews of designs and calculations.
• Monitor geotechnical instrumentation and interpret data.
