Placements24 in Kimberley seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead major projects, delivering expert geotechnical advice for infrastructure and building works. You will plan site investigations, interpret soil/rock data, and design foundations, retaining structures, and slope stability measures.

You will lead a technical team, manage client relationships, ensure safety and compliance, and contribute to new business opportunities with a focus on technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Extensive experience with geotechnical investigation planning, execution, and interpretation.
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software (Plaxis, GeoStudio, Wallap).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex geotechnical projects and leading technical teams.
• Excellent report writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including site characterization and laboratory testing programs.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, slopes, and earthworks.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical reports, providing clear recommendations and design parameters.
• Design and specify ground improvement techniques, excavation support systems, and dewatering schemes.
• Provide expert geotechnical input to project teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Review and approve designs prepared by junior engineers.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards, codes of practice, and environmental regulations.
• Assist in the development of new business opportunities and manage client relationships.
