Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead projects and client engagements in Upington, Northern Cape. This role requires expert knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, site characterization, and management of geotechnical investigations for infrastructure and mining projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop proposals, oversee field and laboratory programs, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of geotechnical experience.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS or GeoStudio.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Experience with infrastructure and mining geotechnical projects.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Proven project and client management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute geotechnical investigations for a variety of projects.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses, including foundation design, slope stability, and seepage analysis.
• Interpret soil investigation data and prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice to clients, contractors, and design teams.
• Oversee site investigations and laboratory testing programs.
• Develop project proposals and contribute to business development efforts.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers and geologists.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Foster strong client relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
