Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer specializing in Geotechnical Investigations to join its Centurion team. You will plan and execute field investigations, assess soil and rock conditions, and contribute to foundation design and earthworks for diverse construction projects.

The role requires a BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, plus at least 6 years of hands-on site experience and proficiency in Plaxis or GeoStudio.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a strong focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering and site investigations.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar.
• Thorough understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience in managing field crews and coordinating laboratory testing programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute field investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing for soil and rock.
• Interpret subsurface data and perform geotechnical analyses for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including recommendations for site development, ground improvement, and seismic considerations.
• Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and clients to provide geotechnical input throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all fieldwork and laboratory testing comply with relevant standards and quality control procedures.
• Utilize specialized software for geotechnical modeling and analysis.
