Placements24’s Durban-based client seeks a Geotechnical Engineer specializing in foundation design to lead site investigations, analyze soil/rock properties and recommend suitable foundation systems for projects across KwaZulu-Natal. The role combines technical rigor with practical site supervision and collaboration with design teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant geotechnical investigations and foundation design experience.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is required.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
• Experience with various foundation types and construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties using lab and field data to determine engineering characteristics.
• Design foundation systems (shallow, deep, retaining walls) for diverse projects.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with findings, analyses and recommendations.

Requirements
