Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead our energy infrastructure projects in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will manage geotechnical investigations, interpret soil and rock data, and provide design recommendations for foundations and earthworks across renewable energy sites. The role requires a Master's in Geotechnical Engineering, at least 8 years of experience, and proficiency with Plaxis or GeoStudio.

Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related Civil Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive geotechnical experience, with energy/infrastructure exposure.
• Expertise in foundation design, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and ground improvement techniques.
• Experience with Plaxis and GeoStudio for modeling and analysis.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and oversee geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil, rock and groundwater data to assess site suitability and potential geotechnical hazards.
• Provide expert geotechnical design recommendations for foundations, earthworks, slope stability, and retaining structures for energy infrastructure.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including findings, analyses, and recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to ensure effective implementation of geotechnical designs.
• Stay updated on advancements in geotechnical engineering and their application to renewable energy projects.
