Job summary

Placements24 invites a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical investigations and designs for major infrastructure and building projects in Sandton and surrounding areas. You will plan site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and provide expert recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage project teams, and collaborate with clients and contractors to ensure safety and structural integrity throughout

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical specialization.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is required.
• 10+ years of geotechnical experience in infrastructure and building projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and interpret geotechnical investigations (CPT, SPt, lab tests).
• Perform advanced geotechnical analysis for foundation design, retaining walls, and slope stability.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and specifications.
• Oversee geotechnical aspects of construction projects ensuring design compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, and contractors to address geotechnical challenges.
