Placements24 is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our Sandton team. You will assess ground conditions, design foundations for diverse construction projects, and interpret complex site data to provide expert recommendations ensuring stability and longevity of structures.

About the Role

You will be responsible for interpreting complex site data, performing detailed analyses, and providing expert recommendations to ensure the stability and longevity of structures. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations, including boreholes, trial pits, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine ground conditions and properties.
• Design shallow and deep foundations, including raft foundations, piles, and caissons.
• Assess slope stability and provide recommendations for earth retention systems.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and design documents for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with structural engineers and construction teams to implement foundation solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and foundation design.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Plaxis, Geo5, Slide).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience with laboratory testing of soil and rock samples.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
