Job summary

Placements24 in Randburg is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its established team. You will plan and oversee site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and provide design recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and slope stability.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with Geotechnical specialization, at least 5 years of geotechnical experience, and ECSA Pr. Eng registration. Proficiency with Plaxis, GeoStudio and RocScience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. is required.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (Plaxis, GeoStudio, RocScience).
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and groundwater hydrology.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties, groundwater conditions, and slope stability using advanced geotechnical software.
• Provide design recommendations for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and earthworks.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports, including interpretations and design parameters.
• Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and contractors to address geotechnical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards and safety protocols in all field and office activities.
