The role focuses on detailed design of foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, and slope stability, translating site data into robust designs for various projects. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, is registered as Pr. Eng.

or Pr. Tech. Eng. with ECSA, and has at least 7 years of geotechnical design experience, with proficiency in PLAXIS,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field.
• Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.
• 7+ years of progressive geotechnical design experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical design for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, earthworks, and slope stabilization.
• Analyze and interpret geotechnical investigation data (boreholes, CPTs, in-situ tests).
• Utilize PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP for analysis and design.
• Prepare clear, concise geotechnical design reports and drawings.
• Collaborate with structural, civil engineers and architects to integrate geotechnical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design engineers and technicians.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and international best practices.
• Assist in tendering by providing design input and cost estimations.
• Review construction proposals and support during execution phase.
• Stay current with geotechnical engineering advancements.
