Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field.
• Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.
• 7+ years of progressive geotechnical design experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical design for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, earthworks, and slope stabilization.
• Analyze and interpret geotechnical investigation data (boreholes, CPTs, in-situ tests).
• Utilize PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP for analysis and design.
• Prepare clear, concise geotechnical design reports and drawings.
• Collaborate with structural, civil engineers and architects to integrate geotechnical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design engineers and technicians.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and international best practices.
• Assist in tendering by providing design input and cost estimations.
• Review construction proposals and support during execution phase.
• Stay current with geotechnical engineering advancements.

About the Role

Our client, a respected specialist in geotechnical engineering, is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to enhance their team in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is focused on the detailed design and analysis of foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, and slope stability solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial developments, residential estates, and infrastructure works. You will be responsible for translating site investigation data into robust, cost-effective designs, preparing detailed technical reports, and collaborating with other engineering disciplines and clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, comprehensive knowledge of geotechnical principles, and proficiency in design software. Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical design for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, earthworks, and slope stabilization.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.


• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.


• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience specifically in geotechnical design.


• Proven expertise in designing various geotechnical elements for different project types.


• Proficiency in relevant geotechnical design and analysis software.


• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.


• Excellent technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.


• Ability to manage design tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines.


• Experience working on projects within Gauteng , particularly in the Centurion area, is highly desirable.
