Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking an experienced Senior Geophysicist to join the exploration team. You will process, interpret, and integrate seismic data to identify subsurface hydrocarbon potential and support prospect maturation.

The role requires a strong background in geophysics, seismic interpretation techniques, and collaboration with geologists and reservoir engineers to guide exploration strategies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in geophysical exploration, with focus on seismic interpretation.
• Proficiency in seismic processing and interpretation software (Petrel, OpendTect).
• Strong understanding of seismic attributes, AVO analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Experience with pre-stack seismic data analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process, quality control, and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures and stratigraphic traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, gravity, and magnetic data for comprehensive subsurface mapping.
• Utilize advanced geophysical software for data analysis and interpretation.
• Conduct geophysical risk assessments and contribute to prospect de-risking efforts.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to refine exploration targets and development plans.
• Stay current with emerging geophysical technologies and methodologies.
