Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist for a mining client near Soweto, Gauteng, to lead resource development and bridge exploration to mine production. You will build robust 3D geological models and provide credible resource estimates to guide planning.

The role requires a Master’s in Geology and 7–9 years of experience in modeling and estimation, with proficiency in Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, Supervisor, and Isatis. A hybrid work setup and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Earth Science with quantitative mineral deposit modeling or geostatistics specialization.
• 7–9 years of relevant experience in mineral resource estimation and geological modeling.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan) and geostatistical tools (Supervisor, Isatis).
• Strong understanding of mineral deposit types and their characteristics.
• Experience with QA/QC of geological data and data management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed 3D geological models using industry-standard software.
• Perform resource estimation using geostatistical methods such as Ordinary Kriging and Uniform Conditioning.
• Ensure data integrity through QA/QC procedures and rigorous validation.
• Collaborate with exploration and mine planning teams to define resource and reserve boundaries.
• Prepare geological reports, resource statements, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior geologists and contribute to team technical development.
