Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Geologist specialized in Resource Estimation in Paarl, Western Cape. You will manage geological datasets, run geostatistical analyses, and develop 3D resource models for mine planning and economic evaluation.

Strong reporting and regulatory compliance are essential. The role requires a Master's in Geology or Economic Geology, 7+ years in mineral resource estimation, and proficiency with Leapfrog, Vulcan, ioGAS, and Datamine.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Economic Geology.
• 7+ years in geological data analysis and mineral resource estimation.
• Experience with geostatistical methods and resource modeling software.
• Experience preparing reports compliant with JORC or NI 43-101.
• Strong data management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and validate geological datasets including drill core logs, assays, density measurements, and survey data.
• Perform geological interpretation and structural analysis to define mineral domains.
• Apply geostatistical methods (variography, kriging) for resource estimation.
• Develop and maintain 3D geological/resource models using industry-standard software.
• Classify mineral resources according to JORC/NI 43-101.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to reconcile models with production data.
• Prepare technical reports detailing estimation methodologies and results.
• Conduct geological site visits and support exploration programs.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout estimation process.
• Stay current with geostatistics and modeling techniques.
