Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Geologist to join its exploration and development team in Pretoria. You will analyze subsurface data, interpret geological models, and collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to de-risk prospects in the oil and gas sector.

Key activities include seismic interpretation, well log and core analysis, developing geological models, basin analysis, and supporting drilling with geological expertise; the role offers a path for professional development

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (Master's preferred).
Minimum of 6 years' experience in geological exploration, preferably oil & gas.
Proficiency in geological software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite) for data interpretation and modeling.

Responsibilities

Interpret seismic data, well logs, and core samples to understand subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
Develop and refine geological models for exploration and development opportunities.
Perform basin analysis and prospect evaluation, assessing geological risk and hydrocarbon volumes.
Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers on integrated subsurface studies.
Support drilling operations with geological expertise and contribute to exploration strategy.
