Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Genomics Scientist for a fully remote role. You will lead advanced genomics research, analyze large-scale datasets, and develop computational pipelines for genomic data interpretation in a remote-first environment.

You will collaborate with clinical researchers to translate findings into actionable insights, design experiments, publish results, and mentor junior scientists while staying current with the latest genomics tools and methods.

Qualifications

• PhD in genomics or related field.
• At least 6 years post-PhD genomics research.
• Proficient in Python and/or R with bioinformatics libraries.
• Experience with GATK, Samtools, PLINK.
• Experience with HPC and cloud platforms.
• Strong publication record.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct advanced research projects in genomics and bioinformatics.
• Analyze large-scale genomic datasets including WGS, exome, and SNP arrays.
• Develop and implement computational pipelines for data analysis.
• Identify and characterize genetic variants linked to diseases or phenotypes.
• Collaborate with clinicians and scientists to translate findings into insights.
• Design and execute genomic validation experiments.
• Author high-quality publications and present at conferences.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to team development.
• Stay updated on genomics technologies and tools.
• Contribute to grant proposals and new research directions.
• Ensure data integrity, quality control, and ethical compliance.
• Manage multiple research projects with timely delivery.
