Placements24 seeks a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist for a fully remote role analyzing large genomic datasets to drive advances in personalized medicine. You will develop pipelines for WGS/WES/RNA-seq, perform statistics, and collaborate with scientists to translate results into actionable insights.

Qualifications

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands-on bioinformatics experience with genomic data analysis (NGS).
• Proficiency in Python, R, and/or Perl with relevant libraries.
• Extensive experience with CLI and HPC environments.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning for biological data.
• Familiarity with BAM, VCF, FASTQ and public databases (NCBI, Ensembl).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
• Excellent problem solving and communication in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robust bioinformatics pipelines for NGS data (WGS, WES, RNA-seq).
• Perform statistical analyses and visualize genomic data to identify variations and expression patterns.
• Collaborate with biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to define research questions.
• Develop machine learning models for predictive insights on large datasets.
• Mentor junior bioinformaticians and contribute to team direction.
• Ensure data integrity and security in a remote setting.
