Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sound Designer & Audio Engineer for a hybrid role based in Benoni, Gauteng. You will craft immersive soundscapes, effects, and musical scores for award-winning game projects, collaborating closely with designers, developers, and composers to ensure seamless audio integration.

The role requires a masterful understanding of audio principles, proficiency in Wwise or FMOD, and a passion for creating impactful sonic environments that enhance narrative and gameplay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in sound/audio fields.
• Minimum 6 years of sound design and audio engineering experience for games or interactive media.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating game audio implementation.
• Proficiency in DAWs (Pro Tools, Reaper, Cubase) and audio editing tools.
• Experience with Wwise or FMOD is essential.
• Solid acoustics, processing, and mixing knowledge.
• Excellent collaboration and communication in a hybrid team.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality sound effects, ambient soundscapes, and musical scores for video games.
• Use advanced audio editing software to create immersive experiences.
• Integrate audio assets into game engines using Wwise or FMOD.
• Collaborate with game designers to enhance gameplay and storytelling.
• Record, edit, and mix dialogue for clarity and consistency.
• Troubleshoot and optimize audio systems for performance and quality.
• Stay updated on audio technologies and best practices in game sound design.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to a strong audio team culture.
• Conduct A/B testing and gather feedback to refine audio elements.
