Jobgether is assisting a partner company in finding aSenior Full Stack Engineer – AI-based in South Africa. You will build AI-powered software end-to-end, spanning frontend, backend, infrastructure, and production AI pipelines.

You’ll shape architecture, improve workflows, and own delivery from discovery through production, with significant impact and autonomy. You’ll work across the full stack, collaborating with domain experts and users to validate solutions and deliver user-centric

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience, JSONB and migrations.
• Full-stack with Next.js, React Query, Express, BullMQ.
• Hands-on AWS (ECS/RDS) and IaC (Terraform).
• Experience building AI/LLM-powered production pipelines.
• Deep understanding of prompt engineering, context management and cost.
• Ability to design flexible, production-ready AI architectures with multiple providers.
• Strong debugging skills in live production systems.
• High autonomy and ownership, proactive problem solving.
• Usability-first mindset for end-user interfaces.
• Willingness to work in an environment with evolving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end product features across frontend, backend, infra and AI pipelines.
• Translate user needs into scalable product solutions across the stack.
• Collaborate with domain experts and users to validate solutions.
• Develop intuitive UI/UX that meets end-user needs.
• Own technical problems from discovery to production resolution.
• Improve workflows and automation for grant applications.
• Advance AI capabilities: prompt engineering, context management and model selection.
• Operate production AI pipelines with providers like AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, OpenAI.
• Contribute to AWS infra including ECS and RDS with reliability and performance goals.
• Set engineering standards, architecture and roadmap as an early team member.
