Job summary

RPO Recruitment’s client in Gauteng is seeking an experienced General Foreman for large commercial building projects in Johannesburg. You will oversee daily site activities, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have a built environment qualification and a proven track record on high-value developments such as offices, shopping centres, or hotels, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in the built environment.
• Proven experience as a General Foreman on large commercial building developments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project programmes.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage multiple subcontractors and large site teams.
• Excellent knowledge of health & safety regulations and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate daily construction activities on site.
• Manage subcontractors, labour teams, and site resources.
• Ensure projects are completed according to programme, quality, and safety standards.
• Monitor productivity and resolve site-related issues efficiently.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality workmanship.
• Liaise with Site Management, consultants, and suppliers.
• Maintain strong health & safety compliance across all site operations.
