Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a well-established commercial enterprise with a Senior Financial Controller role based in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will oversee the accounting function, ensure accurate reporting, and guide financial governance across the branch while partnering with senior management.

The ideal candidate has a CA(SA)/ACCA/CIMA, a bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, and at least seven years of experience in financial management, with IFRS knowledge and strong leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and South African financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and other financial analyses for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and tax regulations.
• Manage the budget process, including preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development and high performance.
• Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary financial information and support.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies within the finance function.
• Provide financial guidance and support to other departments as needed.
