Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Financial Controller for its Upington manufacturing operation. The role oversees accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls to drive financial integrity and informed decision‑making. You will manage a finance team, liaise with auditors, and optimize working capital.

The ideal candidate holds a CA(SA) or equivalent with 7+ years in manufacturing finance, IFRS knowledge, ERP experience, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• CA(SA) or equivalent qualification is essential.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting/financial management experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and SA tax regulations.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced MS Excel functionalities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, GL and payroll.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with standards.
• Develop and manage the annual budget and rolling forecasts; analyze variances.
• Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Oversee external audits and liaise with auditors.
• Manage cash flow and optimize working capital; secure funding for operations.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance/accounting team.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and new financial systems.
