Qualifications

• CA(SA) or equivalent qualification required.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting/financial management experience, including 3 years in a controller capacity.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and familiarity with SA tax laws.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting software and advanced Excel.
• Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, and payroll.
• Ensure timely preparation of IFRS-based financial statements monthly, quarterly and annually.
• Lead budgeting/forecasting with department heads and drive improvements.
• Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership and growth initiatives.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team for continuous improvement.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Financial Controller to oversee financial operations and reporting for their operations based in Paarl. This senior role is responsible for managing the accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, and driving improvements in financial processes. You will work closely with senior management to provide strategic financial insights and support business growth initiatives. This is an opportunity to lead the finance function within a growing entity and make a significant impact on its financial health and strategic direction in the Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes, working with department heads to develop financial plans.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent qualification required.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a controller role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, South African tax laws, and corporate finance principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial operations and drive process improvements.
