Job summary

Qualifications

• Accounting degree with 5+ years' accounting and tax practice experience; OR Grade 12 and Diploma in Bookkeeping/Accounting with minimum 10 years' relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Pastel Express/Partner, Sage Accounting, Sage Payroll and Xero.
• Knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and tax compliance; SA SARS experience is beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; fluent in Afrikaans and English.

Responsibilities

• Handle bank statements, debtors, creditors and account reconciliations.

We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to manage full bookkeeping functions for a portfolio of clients, up to financial statement preparation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process bank statements, debtors, creditors and account reconciliations.
• Process payroll, wages, salaries and related payroll taxes.
• Prepare depreciation, month-end and year-end accounting journals.
• Compile general-purpose and IFRS for SMEs financial statements.
• Prepare and submit VAT201, EMP201 and EMP501 returns.
• Complete individual, trust and company income tax returns, including provisional tax.
• Handle SARS registrations, deregistrations and correspondence.
• Manage UIF and Workmen's Compensation registrations and returns.
• Perform company secretarial and general accounting administration duties.

Requirements:

• Accounting degree with minimum 5 years' accounting and tax practice experience; OR
• Grade 12 and Diploma in Bookkeeping/Accounting with minimum 10 years' relevant experience.
• Strong bookkeeping, financial reporting and tax compliance experience.
• Experience with Pastel Express/Partner, Sage Accounting, Sage Payroll and Xero.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and financial statement preparation.
• Experience preparing SARS returns and handling tax-related correspondence.
• Honours degree in Accounting advantageous.
• SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles advantageous.
• Professional registration with SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA advantageous.
• Registered Tax Practitioner status advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English, both written and spoken.
