Job summary

Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to manage financial operations with accuracy and compliance. You will prepare financial statements, reconcile ledgers, and support strategic planning for a reputable financial services firm.

The role requires IFRS/GAAP knowledge, SA tax familiarity, and strong Excel proficiency, with at least 4 years of accounting experience including 2 in a senior capacity. A CA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CA(SA), ACCA or CIMA qualification is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and South African tax legislation.
• Proficiency in Sage, SAP or QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/GAAP.
• Perform bank and intercompany reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policies.
• Assist budgets and forecasts preparation and provide financial insights to management.
• Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to protect assets.

Key Responsibilities
