Placements24 is seeking a Senior Film Editor for a Port Elizabeth production house. You will shape the narrative and pacing of films, documentaries, and other content, transforming raw footage into compelling stories in collaboration with directors and producers.

The role requires minimum 7 years of experience, proficiency in editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid), strong storytelling, and a portfolio of diverse work.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and meticulous Senior Film Editor to join their production house in Port Elizabeth . You will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative and pacing of films, documentaries, and other visual content, transforming raw footage into compelling stories. Working closely with directors and producers, you will leverage your keen eye for storytelling, rhythm, and continuity to create polished and engaging final cuts. Key Responsibilities

• Edit raw footage into cohesive and engaging narrative sequences for film, television, and digital media.
• Collaborate with directors to understand their vision and translate it into the final edit.
• Select the best takes, arrange shots, and implement pacing and rhythm to enhance storytelling.
• Perform color correction and basic sound mixing to prepare sequences for post-production.
• Manage project timelines and ensure edits are delivered on schedule.
• Continuously evaluate and improve editing techniques and workflows.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a Film Editor or Senior Editor.
• Proficiency with non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer.
• Strong understanding of narrative structure, pacing, and cinematic storytelling techniques.
• Experience with color grading tools like DaVinci Resolve is a significant advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of editing styles and successful projects.
