About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the Energy sector, is actively seeking a Senior Field Operations Technician to join their expanding team. This hands‑on role, based in Mahikeng, North West , involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical energy generation and distribution assets. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently in various field locations. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of our client's energy infrastructure, responding to service calls, and conducting routine inspections. This is a vital role for maintaining the reliable supply of energy within the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and calibration of energy generation and distribution equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in various energy assets.
• Install and commission new equipment according to technical specifications and safety standards.
• Respond promptly to operational issues and service requests in the field.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, regulations, and company policies.
• Operate and maintain specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Assist in training junior technicians and share technical knowledge.
• Conduct site surveys and provide feedback on asset condition and potential improvements.

Requirements

• National Diploma or relevant trade qualification (e.g., Electrician, Fitter & Turner) in a technical field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a field technician, preferably within the Energy or related industrial sectors.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and working with high‑voltage equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license is essential.
• Willingness to travel within the North West province and work occasional overtime or standby duties.
• Experience in Mahikeng or surrounding areas is advantageous.
