Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Agricultural Operations Manager in Midrand, Gauteng, to oversee diverse farming operations, drive productivity, and ensure sustainability.

You will lead cross-functional teams, optimize resources, and ensure compliance with regulations while aligning production with market demand. A strong background in agriculture, logistics, and leadership is essential, with a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive agricultural management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of crop production, pest and disease management, and soil science for Gauteng.
• Experience in leading large teams and fostering a productive work environment.
• Proficient with farm management software and standard office tools.
• Strong budgeting, financial management, and cost-control skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to Midrand farm sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic operational plans to maximize yields and productivity.
• Oversee day-to-day farming activities including planting, cultivation, and harvesting.
• Manage resources: labor, machinery, and materials for cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, safety standards, and environmental best practices.
• Supervise and evaluate farm managers, agronomists, and staff.
• Monitor crop health, soil conditions, and livestock well-being, with corrective actions as needed.
• Manage inventory of supplies and harvested produce with quality control.
• Coordinate with procurement and sales to align production with demand.
• Analyze operations data and report performance for improvements.
• Maintain and repair farm machinery, coordinating with maintenance or contractors.
