Job summary

Placements24 in Randburg, Gauteng, is seeking a diligent Facility Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team, oversee preventative maintenance, and coordinate with contractors to keep the venue safe and functional.

You will manage repairs, keep accurate records, contribute to the annual budget, and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and structural systems.

Qualifications

• A relevant trade qualification (e.g., electrician, plumber, fitter and turner) or a diploma in Facility Management or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and coordinating a variety of repair and maintenance tasks.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building structure.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a facility management context.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective team and contractor management.
• Must be physically capable of performing hands-on maintenance tasks and working in various environmental conditions.
• Reside in or be willing to relocate to the Randburg, Gauteng area.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all facilities, equipment, and grounds.
• Diagnose and coordinate the repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Oversee the work of external contractors and vendors, ensuring quality and timely completion of services.
• Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify potential hazards or areas requiring maintenance.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and costs.
• Contribute to the development of the annual maintenance budget.
