Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to join our client in Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role focuses on the design, construction, operation and maintenance of oil and gas production facilities, ensuring safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee mechanical, electrical and civil disciplines across onshore and offshore assets. The position offers a hybrid work model, with on-site operations support and remote engineering analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in facilities engineering within Oil & Gas.
• Experience with onshore/offshore facilities design, operation and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of process safety, mechanical integrity, and maintenance systems.
• Experience with project management: scope, budget, schedule.
• Knowledge of API/ASME codes and standards.
• Leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and implement practical solutions.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent entity in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to join their operations in Vereeniging, Gauteng . This critical role focuses on the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of oil and gas production facilities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. You will oversee a range of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and civil, to support the smooth functioning of onshore and offshore facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of facility lifecycles, process systems, and project management principles. Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, modification, and operation of oil and gas facilities.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of onshore/offshore production facilities.
• Strong understanding of process safety, mechanical integrity, and maintenance management systems.
• Experience with project management, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical solutions.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and simulation tools.
• Experience in managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
