Job summary

Röhlig & Co is seeking a Senior Export Controller - Airfreight based at Head Office in Linbro Park for our JHB Airfreight Branch. The role emphasizes managing exports, coordinating freight, and ensuring compliance with export control requirements.

Key requirements include at least 5 years in freight forwarder exports, knowledge of INCOTerms, export documentation, customs procedures, and strong communication. A Matric with an export qualification is expected.

Qualifications

• 5 years export experience in freight forwarding in a clerical capacity.
• Knowledge of INCOTerms, customs and export documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan the freight movement.
• Cost freight movements and prepare service estimates.
• Coordinate freight movement.
• Process Customs and other statutory documents required for Customs clearance.
• Administration of shipment file.
• Arrange insurance cover and process claims; creditors disbursements and debtors invoices.
• Comply with the requirements of the Customs Accreditation System.
• Comply with the quality management system.

Education

• Matric
• 1-year export related qualification at NQF level 3 and 4

Knowledge and experience

• 5 years export experience in freight forwarding industry in a clerical capacity
• INCO Terms
• Transport modal selection
• Carrier conditions of carriage
• Basic international trade principles
• Applicable sections of Export control Act
• Commercial, transport, carrier and statutory body documents & stamps
• Customs and other statutory body cargo clearance procedure
• Export freight document flow procedure
• Geography
• G+ programme
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Lotus Note)
• On Track programme
• Good communication skills (Written & Verbal). Client orientation
