Placements24 seeks a Senior Exploration Geologist to lead ambitious exploration projects in the Welkom region. You will design programs, interpret data, and manage field teams to expand our client's resource base.

Role requires a Master's or PhD in Geology with 10+ years of mineral exploration experience and proficiency with ArcGIS, Leapfrog, and ioGAS. International travel opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral exploration with focus on target generation and project management.
• Proficiency with exploration software (ArcGIS, Leapfrog, ioGAS).
• Experience managing remote field operations and logistics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage exploration programs including drilling, sampling, and geophysical surveys.
• Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to identify and delineate potential mineral deposits.
• Conduct detailed field mapping and lithological logging of exploration drill cores.
• Manage budgets and timelines for exploration projects and resource allocation.
• Supervise and mentor junior geologists and field assistants.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management.
