Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee expanding energy storage facilities in Mahikeng, North West. The role blends on-site supervision with strategic planning, leading technicians and engineers to ensure safe, reliable performance.

You will optimize procedures, manage maintenance, monitor SCADA data, and ensure regulatory compliance (NERSA, environmental). A Bachelor's in Engineering and 7+ years in operations management in energy systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in operations management, with focus on energy systems or industrial facilities.
• Experience with energy storage technologies (e.g., Lithium-ion batteries, UPS, grid-scale BESS).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and SCADA operations.
• Proven leadership and team-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing operational procedures and safety protocols.
• Knowledge of standards and regulations (NERSA, environmental regulations).
• Ability to work on-site in Mahikeng and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operational performance of energy storage systems and related infrastructure.
• Lead, mentor, and develop operations and maintenance personnel.
• Develop and implement safe, efficient, and reliable procedures.
• Oversee maintenance schedules including preventative and corrective tasks.
• Monitor system performance via SCADA and other tools; resolve issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for operations.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and commercial teams.
• Prepare operational reports, KPIs, and budgets.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
