Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer for our client in Sandton, Gauteng. You will design, develop, and test embedded software for microcontrollers and embedded processors, collaborating with hardware engineers to deliver robust products.

Key focus areas include RTOS, device drivers, performance optimization, and thorough documentation. The ideal candidate has 5+ years' experience in embedded C/C++, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for hardware-software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional embedded systems experience.
• Proficiency in embedded C and C++.
• Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for microcontrollers and embedded processors using C/C++.
• Implement real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers for various hardware platforms.
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Debug complex hardware and software issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to define system requirements and ensure seamless integration.
• Participate in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production and post-release support.
• Optimize embedded code for performance, power consumption, and memory usage.
• Document software designs, specifications, and test procedures thoroughly.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in embedded systems development.
