Placements24 is hiring a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will design, develop, and implement embedded software and hardware solutions for next-generation devices, collaborating with hardware engineers to ensure robust HW-SW integration.

The role requires hands-on experience with ARM and PIC platforms, RTOS, and strong debugging skills. You will work in a remote, agile environment, delivering high-quality results and driving the technical roadmap.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in embedded systems development.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded environments.
• Experience with RTOS concepts and implementation.
• Familiarity with hardware debugging tools, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Proven ability to work effectively and deliver results in a fully remote capacity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug embedded software for various microcontroller platforms (ARM, PIC, etc.).
• Develop and maintain real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded applications.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
• Implement communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) and low-level drivers.
• Conduct thorough system testing and validation, including unit testing and integration testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in both hardware and software components in a remote setting.
