About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Electrical Engineer to spearhead electrical engineering initiatives for their operations, working remotely from anywhere in South Africa. This senior position focuses on the electrical infrastructure and systems critical to the mining sector, requiring a deep understanding of heavy industrial applications. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, driving the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust electrical solutions that ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability. This is a unique opportunity to exert significant influence over major projects, working remotely to support operations in and around Rustenburg , North West.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, specification, and project management of large-scale electrical systems for mining operations, including power distribution, motor control, and automation.
• Develop and implement electrical safety standards and procedures, ensuring full compliance with mining regulations.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to the electrical engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance analyses for new and existing electrical infrastructure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including site managers and external vendors, to ensure project success and operational continuity.
• Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment, managing budgets and timelines effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering ; Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is highly desirable.
• 10+ years of comprehensive experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on the mining industry.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex, high-value projects.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy industrial electrical systems, VFDs, substations, and automation technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver projects remotely, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and risk management in industrial environments.
