Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a major mining group in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role combines remote work with regular on-site collaboration to design, implement, and maintain advanced electrical and automation systems across mining operations.

You will lead PLC/SCADA projects, ensure safety compliance, run electrical studies, and mentor junior engineers. A strong background in power distribution, DCS, and industrial automation is essential for success in this hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, preferably mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell) and SCADA systems.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety principles and regulations.
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP).
• Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs) and motor control centers (MCCs).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and oversee the installation of electrical power distribution systems for mining equipment and facilities.
• Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLCs and DCS.
• Implement and maintain SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control.

Our client, a leading mining group, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join their innovative team in Pretoria, Gauteng. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated electrical systems and automation solutions across various mining operations. This role requires a deep understanding of industrial electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, control systems, and SCADA. Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and oversee the installation of electrical power distribution systems for mining equipment and facilities.

Requirements

• Proven experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and SCADA systems.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety principles and relevant regulations.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP).
• Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs) and motor control centers (MCCs).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) or eligible for registration is highly preferred.
