The role supports remote work with occasional site visits in Klerksdorp, North West, and requires strong PLC, HMI, and panel design skills, plus experience with IEC/SANS standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design for industrial automation or control systems.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Strong understanding of PLC hardware, I/O, and basic programming principles.
• Knowledge of VFDs, motor control and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts for mining automation systems.
• Specify PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors and actuators for reliable systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software teams for integrated designs.
• Prepare BOMs and technical documentation for control systems.
• Ensure compliance with IEC and SANS safety standards.
• Support commissioning and testing remotely and on-site.
• Troubleshoot design issues and assist during manufacturing and installation.
• Evaluate new components and technologies for future designs.
• Contribute to design reviews and maintain revision-controlled documentation.
• Maintain accurate design records and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts for mining automation systems.

• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to ensure integrated system design.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for electrical control systems.

Requirements

• Proficiency in using electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Strong understanding of PLC hardware, I/O, and basic programming principles.
• Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control, and power distribution principles.
