Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Building Services to join a prestigious design consultancy in Sandton. You will lead electrical design for complex commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments, collaborating with architects and clients.

You will mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership, and shape innovative electrical solutions for signature projects in a flexible hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical design for building services.
• Experience leading electrical design projects for large-scale developments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and lighting design software.
• Strong knowledge of low-voltage distribution, LV switchgear, and BMS.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and specification of electrical systems for buildings (power, lighting, emergency, fire detection).
• Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and calculations using industry software.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural plans and other services.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and client expectations for electrical components.
• Conduct site inspections during construction to verify design adherence.
