Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced electrical systems. This remote role lets you contribute from anywhere in South Africa while collaborating with a distributed team of engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to push boundary-pushing innovations.

You will design schematics, PCBs, and system architectures, select components for performance and cost, and produce BOMs and specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical design and product development.
• Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Strong analog/digital circuit, power electronics, and embedded systems knowledge.
• Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs or embedded processors.
• Familiar with SPICE and debugging tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication for a remote team.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• RF design or signal integrity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of electrical schematics, PCBs, and system architectures.
• Select components for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Create BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Run circuit simulations and validate designs.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers for integration.
• Perform design reviews and implement DF[M] principles.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards.
